New WebMeister!

FALL 1999/WINTER 2000 CSDC News

The newest edition of the online CSDC News features articles and pictures of the August 1999 meeting and the Planetfest event.

Technical Changes

Your friendly local webmaster has learned a few more tricks for getting the most out of the his tools. Almost every page has been changed to take advantage of the templates and site management capabilities of BBEdit. Pages that only had these technical changes are not listed as updated on the home page, but may contain a timestamp with a different date.

New Look and Feel

This edition of the CSDC Website completes the changes to the layout and technology used for the site. JavaScript is used to aid navigation and give the pages an interactive feel. (The pop-up bios in the July meeting summary also use JavaScript.)

Now that this is complete, I can start assembling material to expand the site.

Navigation Changes

The home page contains two listings of the major areas in the site. The "Quick Menu" at the left contains a timestamp to indicate when that section last changed. The "Big Menu" on the right contains more information about what's in a section. The "Quick Menu", without the timestamps and in smaller font, is repeated in each area.

Updated Pages

Several pages have been updated to include more information and a new sub-section with documents not published in the CSDC News has been added.

Thanks

Thanks to the magazine MacAddict for pointing out how to use simple stuff to make fancy webpages and providing an excellant example.

Also, the design site Web Pages that Suck has helped by letting me see how it is not done.

Comments are welcome. (A form will be available for this soon.)
